Q. What is Disruptathon?
A. Disruptathon is a company and a platform for identifying innovative ideas and the people and companies behind them. We hold public and private events and contests to identify the next great disruptors.
Q. How does it work?
A. At our public events, innovators make presentations while attendees provide input, ratings and feedback via the Disruptathon Innovation Discovery Platform. The results allow us to determine how that particular audience evaluated the companies presenting. At private events, the Disruptathon process and platform allows an organization to hold their own live events to garner feedback on ideas and innovations for the purpose of identifying new opportunities and making more informed decisions.
Q. Can anyone attend a public Disruptathon?
A. Yes, events are open based on availability.
Q. Is a public Disruptathon for new ideas or can companies bring existing products?
A. While many new ideas are brought forward by entrepreneurs working for startups companies, Disruptathon is about identifying any important innovations. All size companies are welcome.
Q. Is public Disruptathon an incubator event for seeking funding?
A. Investors may discover a new opportunity at a Disruptathon, but investment is not the core purpose. The purpose is to focus on innovation, which differs from a sales or funding pitch, but in our view is equally important.
Q. Does Disruptathon play a role in the intellectual property that is shared at public or private events?
A. No. We only facilitate the events and play no part in the intellectual property of ideas or products.
Q. Why should my organization schedule a private innovation event?
A. Innovation is a key to organizational health and growth. Disruptathon is one of the tools a company can use to stimulate the innovative thought process. The platform also allows organizations to showcase internal innovation efforts, identify strategic priorities and evaluate external innovations and partnerships.
Q. How long does a Disruptathon event last?
A. Disruptathon events may last from a few hours to a full day depending on the format. Most of our events as of summer 2011 will be full day events that include a day of business development and networking and an evening contest program.
