About

Our mission is to fuel the creative economy.

The World has changed. Forever. Yesterday, builders were the pillars of the global economy. Today, creatives are starting new businesses, growing existing ones and disrupting the markets they enter. The creative economy represents the best hope for a prosperous and secure future and we believe doing all we can to stimulate, support and promote creatives throughout the world to be a worthy mission.

To achieve our mission we’ve developed a unique series of Disruptathon events that seek out and promote creatives across all sectors of the economy. Our events are unique in that they integrate all attendees into the process. The Disruptathon Innovation Discovery Platform allows the audience to use our mobile app to provide ratings and feedback to presenters. This enables us to optionally run our events as contests and connect presenters and the audience in a new and powerful way. Disruptathon events have quickly become the standard bearers for pure, transformative innovation in an increasingly compromised, commercialized world.

Disruptathon was founded in 2009 by Pete Erickson and is run as a virtual company. A collective of creative individuals contribute to its success.

Meet our collective:

Pete Erickson, founder

Prior to Disruptathon, Pete was a contributing member of three technology startups spanning the dotcom and post 9/11 eras. After stints in ecommerce, digital imaging and secure networking Pete decided to breakout of any particular vertical to focus on disruptive innovation and finding ways to stimulate growth. A search for mobile developers in 2008 led Pete to also found MoDevDC, a mobile developers group based out of the Washington area.

Dr. Tom Love, advisor

Tom is the co-creator of Objective-C, the language that runs all Apple products. Tom sold Steve Jobs and crew Objective-C as the core language for NEXT computer in 1988 and the rest is history. Tom is true disruptor who now owns and operates Shoulders Corporation, a company dedicated to improving the nations code base.

Sze Wong, technology advisor

Sze is the founder and CEO of Zerion Software (dba iFormBuilder), the platform that powers the Disruptathon app and feedback system. Sze oversees all technology related to our mobile applications and strategy including the iOS, Android and web.

Sanjay Beri, legal advisor

Sanjay is a partner at Womble, Carlyle, Sandridge and Rice and provides Disruptathon with counsel on all matters related to operations. Sanjay attended the first Disruptathon event held in October, 2009. Since then, he’s played a pivotal role in our formation and growth.
